Raised – North Vietnam – Namdinh (1st Christian converted city in Vietnam by Francis Xavier)
1947 - Inquires about becoming priest while being an Altar Server(7 years old)
1949 - Accepted into Minor Seminary ( 10 years old)
1955 - Sent to Paris France to study
1956 - Buffalo NY attended Canness College, Majors: Physics & Theology, Masters: Biology & Psychology
1966 – Ordained Rochester N.Y.
1967 – Teaches Biology at the Little Flower Seminary
1975 - Appointed by U.S. Counsel of Bishops to resettle Vietnamese refugees throughout USA
1982 – Instrumental in creating “ Pastoral Care for Migrants and Refugees” (PCMR)
1983 – Founded “Mary Queen of Vietnam” Parish in New Orleans (27,000 parishioners)
1986 – Elevated to Monsignor
2003 – Ordained Bishop by John Paul II (1st Vietnamese Bishop in the USA)
2003 – Appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Orange County, CA
2007 – Appointed by the USCB to lead “Ethic Vocations Taskforce for Cultural Diversity“
